43. A stroll around Goytre Hall Wood

This small, gently undulating broad-leaved woodland is set amongst a flowing landscape of farms, small fields and woods.

There are seats and picnic tables next to the car park. A 200 metre long stone-dust path leads from the car park to a pedestrian gate at the boundary hedge. A rough track leads from the gate to the canal centre at Goytre Wharf, 400 metres away. This track can be muddy during the winter and after rain.

How to get there: The wood is close to the A4042 between Abergavenny and Pontypool, 1.5km north of Penperlleni and 2 km south of Llanover. Follow the sign by the bus stop for Goytre Wharf and the car park is on the right hand side after 300 metres.
