29. A stroll around Pwll-yr-Wrach Nature Reserve

An easy access trail with hard surface gently winds its way 550 yards/500 metres down into the heart of the woodland valley and River Enig.

This nature reserve is owned and managed by Brecknock Wildlife Trust and is home to a range of wildlife, trees, flowers and ferns. The main path has a single handrail, resting spots and passing places. Unsurfaced compacted earth paths continue further into the reserve and to the witches pool or ‘pwll yr wrach’. There are information boards on the local wildlife and geology of the area and guided walks are organised by the Wildlife Trust. A leaflet is available from the Wildlife Trust.


How to get there: This reserve is on a minor road about 1 mile south of Talgarth, 500 metres past the former Mid Wales Hospital.

Distance: 500 metres to the valley bottom, with a further 1km of uneven earth paths.
